Bleeding Gums Treatment Cary, NC

Do your gums bleed regularly and you don’t know why?

Bleeding gums, also known as gingivitis, is the first sign of gum disease progression. Gum disease is a dental concern that plaques many patients. It occurs when the soft tissues of your mouth get irritated and inflamed due to bacteria buildup surrounding the gum line. If left untreated, this bacteria will begin to eat away at your soft tissues, causing gum recession and leaving you more at risk for tooth loss. To help our patients combat gum disease progression and bleeding gums, we offer a variety of preventative dental care services in our Cary, North Carolina dentist office.

Gum Disease Treatment in Cary, NC

There are many ways that gum disease can be treated and prevented. The best way to prevent gum disease progression is to schedule regular oral health and wellness visits with your local dentist. During these appointments, a dental professional will evaluate your smile for signs of gum disease and scrape away any plaque or tartar buildup on your smile. Plaque and tartar are the hardened food residues left behind on your teeth. They are the source of the harmful bacteria which can and will eat away at your gums. We recommend scheduling regular oral health and wellness visits at least once every six months to best prevent the progression of gum disease.

If your gingivitis has already developed into gum disease by the time you make it to our office, Dr. Elise Brace may recommend a deep cleaning, or a scaling and root planing, which protects your teeth against additional bone loss. If either of these is recommended, we will walk you through the procedure and make sure you’re comfortable with local anesthesia.
