If you’ve been living with cracked, chipped, stained, or otherwise imperfect teeth that have you hiding your smile or feeling unhappy with your appearance, Dr. Brace and the rest of our team at Kildaire Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is here to help! We specialize in a variety of different cosmetic dentistry procedures that can restore both the function and beauty of damaged teeth so you can confidently show off a dazzling smile. Today, we want to talk about dental veneers, a common treatment for a variety of cosmetic dental issues.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are thin, tooth-colored pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your existing, natural teeth to cover up various issues, such as irregularly shaped teeth, gaps, discolorations, and chips. Veneers are permanent, and should only be considered after a consultation with us regarding your dental history and your smile goals.

What Is the Veneers Process?

After you have your initial consultation with Dr. Brace and she determines that you’re a good candidate for veneers, we will begin the veneer procedure. This usually takes two visits:

  • During your first visit, we will take an impression of your teeth in order to custom-create your veneers, shave off a small layer of your tooth enamel, and fit you with temporary veneers. You and Dr. Brace will design your veneers to have the shape and size you want, which will be replicated in porcelain for your permanent veneers.
  • During your second visit, we will remove the temporary veneers and replace them with the customized porcelain veneers. During both appointments, our team will use local anesthesia to keep you as comfortable as possible during the procedure. After you’ve completed both visits, your new veneers will give you the bright, white smile you’ve always wanted! They will last 10-15 years, and perhaps even decades, with proper care.
