How Long Will an Implant Restoration Last?

woman surrounded by question marks pondering how long her dental implant restoration will last

Are you taking the next step for your dental health and getting dental implants? The Kildaire Family & Cosmetic Dentistry team is so excited for you to experience the difference a fully restored smile can make in your life! At our practice, we provide dental implant restorations, so we’ve seen firsthand how happy patients are to see natural-looking teeth rather than gaps in their smile. One question we often get from dental implant patients is “How long will my implant restoration last?” Let’s dive into the answer!

Durability

The durability of your implant restoration can depend on the materials that it is made out of and what kind of implant restoration you get (for example, a crown to replace one missing tooth or a bridge to replace a few missing teeth). In general, it could last you as long as 10 to 15 to 25 years! If you need to get your implant restoration replaced due to normal wear and tear, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to get the implant post (what serves as the artificial tooth root) replaced, too.

The Difference in Oral Care

A major factor in how long your implant restoration lasts you is how good you are about taking care of your oral health. That means if you regularly brush and floss your teeth, are using the right techniques at home, and keep up with your regular dental visits. Taking excellent care of your smile by doing all of these things will help maximize the life of your dental implant restoration.
